Musgrave Group, the SupeValu and Centra franchise operator, increased profit before tax last year by 14.2% to €81m.
However, turnover rose just 4.5% to €4.6 billion, with €0.5 billion of this related to cash and carry foodstuffs, and €4.1 billion due to retail brands.
The group said net debt was reduced by €139m to €186m in the year.
In the Centra franchise business in Ireland sales grew by 17% to €1.2 billion, and sales to members of the SuperValu franchise network grew by 11% to over €2 billion.
In Northern Ireland, sales of €556m were up 9% on 2005 throughout its SuperValu, Centra and DayToday outlets.
In the UK, Budgens and Londis retail partners recorded sales of €2.6 billion. Musgrave said the strategy to sell company-owned Budgens stores to independent retailers continues with 59 stores sold last year.
Budgens independent stores had 5% like for like sales growth, and Londis recorded like for like sales growth of 4%.
In Spain, Dialprix and SuperValu retailers operating in the Alicante region of recorded 8% sales growth to €113m.
Musgrave said it had it completed a green electricity deal with Energia during the year, and the group exceeded its 65% waste recycling target.
It said in the Republic of Ireland, 75% of all products sold in SuperValu and Centra stores is sourced or manufactured in Ireland.

Commenting on the outlook ahead, Chris Martin said: 'The Group and its retail partners in Ireland will invest in excess of €180 million in new stores and in the development of existing stores and infrastructure to meet anticipated consumer demand'.
He said the group will be looking to increase its presence in Spain in the areas of Valencia and Murcia.
